Dozens of almenaras, watchtowers that could see each other, ready to light a fire at the first sign of danger. One tower detected. The next alerted. In minutes, the entire coast knew something was coming.
Today the threats come through different channels, but the principle is the same: detect early, alert clearly, respond as a network.
